"Alas, a mist has encroached on my working day. Seeping into my eyes it pulls them gently as if it were a mechanical pulley. The sweet comfort of sleep seems far away as the mind struggles with daily toils. Intoxicating the very air I breathe, this demon has become my master, as I bow down in weakness, a slave, destroyed."

So yeah. Pretty damn tired this week. And constantly hungry..... strange. Hoping it's some kind of weird bug and not me turning into a lazy lump :o
For those of you able to keep your eyes open have a look at the blog I wrote over at Cellardoor, Excited to go to a screening :)
As a big fan of photography, and especially fashion photography, I got quite excited when my sister brought round this book...
One of her friends lent it to her and its packed full of mouth watering images ready to melt your brain with their gorgeous-ness! Love David Bailey's images, the man has shot so many Icons in the music/fashion/general world! And has done lots of shoots for Vogue. ME LIKEY.
So you may have noticed I've had a little blog make-over! Am going to do the same with all three and make them look that extra bit special. I wish I was technically minded so I could create original designs with biiiig images! If anyone out there knows anything about increasing the sizes of images of blogger, please give me some tips in my comments! I'm terrible. Still, happy with this make-over- what do you think?
Have recently discovered a new band called CocoRosie and felt the need to share a particular song with ya'll. Now I must warn you, they are odd. The vocals are odd, the music is odd....but damn I'm falling in love. If you like unconventional music check them out, they're quite eerie, mythical and strange, but also beautiful.
This song is called 'Smokey Taboo', they don't have a video so here's the song put to a pretty picture!
I LOVE the line, "I'm a desert child and mountains make me nauseous" the writing is just amazing....
Let me know what you think? Acutely aware I may be standing alone in my lust for this song but I'm intrigued at what you guys think!
I didn't get to spend much time with my dad today as I had training for a new part-time job, so I'm fulfilling his request to have a dedicated blog to his fantastic-ness!
Here are some quick things I love about about my lovely papa:
His ridiculous and silly sense of humour
His innate ability to listen/sympathise/empathise
His uncompromising love for all of us, despite some of our many flaws
His optimism- he likes to hide it, but deep down he believes in all of us no matter how bad things get
His passion for good music, he's taught me a lot
The pleasure he gets from the simple things in life (a nap, a beer, a good gardening sesh)
His amazing calm business head in tough situations- he won't give up without a fight!
His driving skills. He drives around grannies for work and me for pleasure
And lastly I love how considerate he is to all of us and even our other halves. You're the reproductive organs of a canine father. (that's the dogs bollocks to you lot)
Here are some amazing photo's he took of himself the other day....
Had a brilliant weekend with my friends in Hitchin this weekend, went to see my girl Zoe and her pretty new flat! During our visit Zoe showed us her new scrapbook and I was totally blown away, it looks so amazing and is a great way for her to document her travels. Creative things like that are great way to spend free time- as soon as I get some of that I wanna start my own! Here are some cool inspirations....
I stumbled across this brilliant blog a while ago and wanted to share it with the world, it's warms up your heart whilst teasing out giggles- the perfect combination.
"Leah Dieterich's mother always told her to write thank you notes. So she does. To everything. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude"
Being grateful is such an overseen trait, we all moan about what we don't have/want/need/achieve, it's about time we celebrated what we do have. Here's my thank you note for the day:
Dear fat cat,
Thank you for always trying to get up and saying hello whenever I enter the room, you're pathetic attempts at meowing and movement make me feel wanted and loved. Lay off the kitty chow though yeah?
As some of you may or may not be aware, I have been involved in a long-term love affair with music since I was little. From the shocking admission of my first gig being Linkin Park when I was 14, (it was cool at the time I swear...), to today writing for music websites whenever I get the time. I would love to make it in the big bad world of music journalism, but tis a very tricky business to shimmy into and to be honest as long as I'm writing about something I'm passionate about, be that music, fashion or photography- I'm happy. So we'll see where that leads me ay....
ANYWAY getting to the point, here are some bands I'm loving at the mo...
'She Keeps Bees' Her voice is blusey heaven and their music makes me swoooon. Check em out. They're album out at the mo is called 'Nests'
this is a live version of 'Ribbon'....
'The Black Keys' Have been a fan of these guys for years and they've recently released a new album called 'Brothers' and it is brilliant!! Again they are a bit blusey, I get excited by gravelly voiced men with beards..
this song is called 'Tighten Up' Hadnt seen the video before, kinda love it....
'Band of Skulls' My friend Luke introduced me to these guys, really like them, they can swing from stunning ballad to tough rock in a heartbeat.
Being a sappy chick here is my fav song, 'Honest' played acoustically...
Loads of vid's for ya! Let me know what you think. Plenty of new albums for me to lust after anyway :)
This is yet another blog I found via another blog I cannot remember! I always archive my findings ready for a blog post but forget to note down where I find them! Either way this is a beautiful photography blog I stumbled across called Forever is Today (brilliant name no?) and is full of fantastic images from Hilda Grahnat. Take a sneaky peek....
Have been feeling really creative at the moment- have a real urge to write more short stories and submit them to literary magazines or competitions etc. I have one being published in the next issue of Cellardoor which is great, (have also contributed to their blog!), will post a link when its out :) But I have the hunger for more! Photography-wise as well I am loving my 365 challenge and want to push myself further....one friend has even pointed out that the Taylor Wessing photography prize is open for submission, bit silly to think I could get anywhere, but hey you don't get anywhere in life without taking leaps of faith now do ya.
I see a creative weekend ahead, oooh yes, it's sparkly and pretty. Can't wait. Forever is Today after all ;)
