Streamlining

So as you may have spotted, I've done another little make-over to Limbo. I've decided to retire my Style blog as sadly, not enough people are reading, and also, if I'm honest- I haven't got the time at the moment to update 3 different blogs. So I'm going to concentrate all my efforts into this little blog and fill it full of fashiony bits too. So I'm hoping there will be a little something for everyone on here now, will do my best to keep things interesting and keep people reading anyway!

Remember to keep an eye on my 365 photography project and hit me up with some comments- I need feedback! Feel a little like I'm talking into space at the mo ;)

And get ready for some sexy fashion shots like this coming your way...

Urgh, I bloody love it.

Must be the Music

Just a quick video-tastic post from me tonight! Have just watched the first semi-final of new talent show 'Must be the Music', and I can't get over how good it is. I know, I know, we should all shun shows like this and the 'X Factor' and allow true talent to emerge naturally....blah blah blah. But hey, I am a creature of my generation and I actually feel that this show has found some SUPERB talent.

They are musicians for a start, not just people that can belt out a Whitney Houston number. And better still, they don't automatically win a record deal- they get £100,000 and the chance to play a gig at Wembley, which will surely lead to a record deal, but you know what I mean- it isnt the automated response. ALSO, you can download the semi-finalists songs on i-tunes now to help them make money from their music...Christ I sounded like the advert then! I'll shush now.

Here are my personal top three....

First up is Emma's Imagination. LOVE HER. She needs to win this. Or at least release an album :D Beautiful voice, amazing song. Even better hair.

Next up, Daithi (pronounced Dah-he), Irish fellow with equally great hair. Check out what he can do with his Fiddle.....and no, that's not a euphemism.

And last but certainly not least, Pepper & Piano. Two friends with an amazing connection and phenomenal song writing skills.

I hope one of these guys wins it, (there are plenty of other brilliant acts too, but these are the best in my eyes,) and I hope they all release music for me to buy!!

Anyone else been watching this or am I on my own?

Quandries

Having a slight blogging dilemma at present, or a blogemma if you will. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my personal blog (that's this one) separate from my fashion blog (that's the other one) or if I should just reunite them, do a quick re-design and create one super blog. The main reason I'm thinking this is because this blog is the one getting all the attention, hits wise, and I would really like more eyes to see Style Limbo. My career has taken a turn for the stylish and this once frivolous obsession with clothes has turned into a hopeful career.

What would you like to see? Go and take a peek at Style Limbo and let me know if you like its concentrated nature or if it could easily slot in here. Any comments would be greatly appreciated :)

Happy Birthday :)

Just a quick post from me this evening, just wanted to say a huge Happy Birthday to my good friend Emily :)

Emily is one of those girls that walks into a room and demands attention without saying a word. Tall, blond and almost painfully gorgeous, this girl also has the biggest heart I've ever known. She's been through a lot and it always takes my breath away at how she deals with it with humility and grace.

All of my girls are constantly in my heart and I would truly be lost without them. So here's to friendship, birthdays and dinner parties!! Which I'm running late for- eek... best dash.

INK

Have been watching an awful lot of 'Ink' shows recently, (Miami Ink, LA Ink, London Ink), and have found myself yearning for yet another tattoo....

At the moment I have about 7 pieces of work on me, but my God they are addictive and I simply have to have more. I often get comments from members of the public, (especially when shopkeeping), saying a range of things from, 'is that permanent?', to, 'Ooooh that looks so cool', to the older generation saying, 'I hope you don't regret those when you're older' or even just, 'Wow, where did you get that?' - so it really varies. At the end of the day each and every one I have reminds me of a point in my life and no matter how old I am, I'm never going to regret marking those special moments.

Here are a couple of my big ones...

The rest are small symbols/words dotted around my body. And as much as I love them all, I have such a craving at the moment to get more! I want to add more feathers to my ribs, (they just doesn't feel complete yet!), I want to get some lettering across my other set of ribs, ooooh and I really want to get a peacock feather running from my neck down to the top of my back, something like this...

I am totally aware when I'm 80 they will all look terrible, and I will look like some crazy painted lady...but when I look down to my arm and remember my month in Thailand, or look to my ribs and remember the sense of freedom I felt at the time...I'm pretty sure I'll be smiling.

Happyness

Feeling incredibly upbeat this evening....I just realised I need to remember who I am- positive and optimistic to the point of lunacy. And also- GRATEFUL. I live an incredibly fortunate life, have great friends, family and an amazing boyfriend (who recently got himself a shiny new job!!).

The future is bright for me right now, I just need to sit tight and enjoy what I've got right now in full knowledge that tomorrow is going to be great, (and the day after that...the day after that too, then the day after that... etc, etc.).

After all you are what you think- think negative and angry thoughts and your surroundings will change to reflect that. Think positive, uplifting thoughts and that's what will happen. So here are some pretty images to get that serotonin flowing...

And at the end of the day it all comes down to this...

Mr. Gingerbread Man

I've already posted this on my photography blog- but it made me chuckle so wanted to share it on here as well (I know, I know, I'm LAME), this was my productive day earlier this week...

I took Mr. Gingerbread Man on a lil trip...

First he headed to India and rode an elephant!

He then visited Thailand and walked with tigers at the Tiger Temple...

Then he got bored of animals and skipped over to Africa where he proceeded to try and chat up this local woman...

But then her Ninja boyfriend turned up...

Finally, after wondering the earth alone and full of sugar, he found a friend for life and fellow freak... Wall-E.

Girls that RAWK

So.....this film looks pretty damn good.

I'm not going to lie here, I'm not a hardcore Runaways fan or anything, and I know diddly squat about how they started... so this film has clearly been made to educate people like me. Female front-women are now all the rage in rock, and I think its quite clear that these guys had a lot to do with it. Excited to see Kristen Stewart in something that isn't Twilight (she cameoed in 'Into the Wild' and was brilliant'), she's a good actress, her character in Twilight just bugs me. Also excited to see Dakota Fanning- she's grown up hasn't she?! Still looks young to me, but will be good to see her in a more adult role, I think she's gonna be a bit of an acting genius that one.

Speaking of girls that RAWK, I also wanted to post a video of my current favourite singing ladies- Peggy Sue. Not punk rockers like the Runaways, but they rock in their own way! And yes I have mentioned them before....here, and here. But never before have I made you watch a video!! This is my favorite song called 'The Sea, The Sea' sung live. Listen. Love. Listen again.

Smile at your Sister

Just a quick post today about a brilliant blog called Smile at your Sister, here's the blurb...

"it´s about girls in motion. we love them on bikes, on boards, on the dancefloor, when they sing and paint. smile at your sister is for raw girls with soul."

Every time I take a look I get inspired to go run around and be a free spirited girly, such uplifting photo's and sentiments. Reminds me a lot of my circle of girlfriends- they fit the spec perfectly ;)

Release

So it turns out working 6 day weeks complete with lots of 11 hour days are really....not so fun. At the moment I'm feeling constantly knackered which is only perpetuated by my ridiculous laziness when I do have a spare day/evening/hour. My social life seems to have vanished with my lust for life, the only time I don't feel like a zombie at the mo is when I get precious time with my boyfriend....

Figured out what I need though- a night out. I need to drink one too many cocktails and spend a night on the dance floor with my best friends shaking my ass til the lights come on.

Looks like one of my best girly's is heading home soon, so think we'll plan something along those lines for then! Then I have a weekend off from work coming up where I might head out of town. OH and I even have lunch plans tomorrow. Things are looking up already :)

Dreams Do Come True.....

Yup, dreams officially come true. Do you remember back in April I wrote a blog post about a dream I had about a vintage pale blue typewriter? (here's the full post),

" I have been having the strangest dreams lately. The other night I dreamt that I saved John Travolta from drowning, (WTF?), and last night I was dreaming about the most amazing blue antique typewriter. Did I buy it in my dream? No. Because even in my dreams I couldn't afford it...although, to be fair for some reason dream land is highly over priced and it cost £512,000. I would looove an antique typewriter so much, I just think they're beautiful and essential for proper writers (hehe)."

Well, my amazing sister just happened to stroll past a charity shop one day and spotted something blue and pretty (and a lot more fairly priced than in dream land) in the window. She picked it up for me and now it has pride of place on my desk...

How amazing is that? For those interested, no I will not be using it to type, it is merely in my room for inspirational and aesthetic purposes :D

So there you have it, dreams can come true, gives me hope for my other slightly larger dreams anyway :)
