a birthday in bath

For my birthday this year I was well and truly spoilt by my boyfriend and taken to Bath for the weekend. I've heard such great things about the city from friends and now I know why - it is such a gorgeous city and steeped in history.

We stayed at the Royal Crescent hotel and received the most incredible service during our stay. Joe had told them it was my birthday and when we got to our room there was a cute box of handmade chocolates waiting for me with a written note wishing me a happy birthday! (it's the little things that make a difference).

After unpacking we went to explore the city and took a look around the stunning Roman Baths (where we saw a couple of ducks enjoying the hot springs!) was so interesting to see all the relics they uncovered. Didn't get the chance to go inside the Abby, but we got to take in its beauty from the outside.

The rest of the afternoon was spent at the hotel spa for a relaxing swim, steam and sauna - heaven. We managed to find a cute little bar in the evening and had a couple of cocktails before dinner. Joe had booked us a table at the most INCREDIBLE Italian restaurant called Sotto Sotto, amazing service, romantic setting and delicious food, I thoroughly recommend it to anyone going to Bath.

The next day we took another stroll in town and stocked up on some Ben's Cookies before heading home. It was such a lovely weekend, will have to go back in the summer to explore the botanical gardens.

Have you been to Bath? Anywhere you would recommend going?

Happy Birthday Limbo!

source

After delving back through the archives of my blog a couple of days ago, I noticed that today, July 10th, is Limbo's third birthday! Three years following me from unemployed bum, to, (part-time), freelance writer and all the fun stopping points on the way. Its been such an eye opening experience, gaining me confidence, friends and a creative release. To celebrate I thought I would look back and do a quick round up of a couple of my favourite posts over the years...

2008:

1) The first post: Arriving in Limbo (my first words thrown hesitantly into cyber space)

2) The festival roundup: Bestest Bestival Bever (a quick rundown of an amazing weekend)

3) The exposing post: The Worst of Me (some writing from my past)

2009:

1) The turning point post: Notting Hill Carnival (Changing the direction of my blog and using my own photography for the first time)

2) The first fashion post: Fashion Fix (introducing fashion to Limbo)

3) The discovery post: Letters to you (discovering the wonders of online projects and joining in myself)

2010:

1) The farewell post: I'm Offski (leaving the blog world for Thailand)

2) The musical post: New Love Interests (sharing my music taste and lust for new noise)

3) The popular post: Cupcakes... in a Jar! (according to the stats, this is pretty much my most popular post to date!)

This year has been my favourite so far, I feel like Limbo has settled into quite a nice little groove and I feel like I'm finally finding my feet as a blogger. I would like to say thank you to anyone who reads this, followers, friends, whoever- it means more than you know.

So, lets raise a glass to Limbo- here's to a fun three years and hopefully many more!

What it looks like to turn 25....

I turned 25 last week, (yeah- woah)

Quite a milestone really. You're moving out of your happy, safe, familiar early twenties and into rather unnerving grown-up territory. It's both terrifying and incredibly exciting at the same time.

Anyway- this isn't a blog post for me to ramble on about ageing, it's to show you how I spent my Birthday week off work.

Monday:
This evening I rallied up my boy, my sister and her boy to come with me to watch 'Sea of Bees' play an intimate gig at the Gallery Cafe in London. Such a great band and such a fantastic gig. The highlight of which saw me accost 'Peggy Sue' (my favourite band, who just happened to be in the audience) in the girls loo to tell them how much I loved them and something about me wearing their T-shirt....

Wednesday:
My Birthday :D Today I spent time with my lovely Antony. We went for a yummy lunch in Guildford and hit the Cinema. In the evening we headed home and inhaled lots of Chinese and wine with my parents. Here's what I wore...

Saturday:
This evening I went out with some friends for dinner and drinks- ate too much, drank too much and laughed just enough ;)

Sunday:
LONDON FASHION WEEKEND Yeah, I was excited about this one. Me, my muma, my sis and her other half made our way to Somerset House and rifled through designer clothes, ooh'd and ahh'd over pretty things and took in the atmosphere at the catwalk show.

I'm not going to lie- I wanted to stay forever.

What I wore:
(skirt and shoes- Primark, tee- River Island, cardi- New Look, )

My sister trying on some headbands :)

I also purchased a couple of bits Saturday- but I'll leave that for another time ;)

We No Speak Americano...

London should be a mandatory city to visit for everyone everywhere. Spent a great weekend there in celebration of my friend Paul's Birthday, and have fallen even more in love with our beautiful capital.

And yes. I took photo's. Lots of them.

First off we headed to Navajo Joe's in Covent Garden for some of the best food I've ever eaten! Lamb Burrito goodness followed by a cheeky chocolate brownie and lashings of Sangria....

After this we danced the calories off in Guanabara, a club dedicated to Brazilian beats, food and drink. A live band had the crowd jumping with sultry South American beats and impressive costumes...they even got my butt wiggling on top of a table!

The next morning me and the birthday boy did brunch at the Diner where I indulged in a short stack with a side of bacon! NOM-tastic.

Realising neither of us had experienced Spitalfields Market we decided to check it out... I took many many pictures....I would like to live under one of these market stalls, please.....

After this visual feast we went to take in the vibe on Brick Lane....

After a lot of photographing, one chocolate filled churro and precisely squat purchased, (money issues kids), I headed home happy and with sore feet.

London I love you lots. Paul I love you even more! Happy friggin Birthday :)

Happy Birthday :)

Just a quick post from me this evening, just wanted to say a huge Happy Birthday to my good friend Emily :)

Emily is one of those girls that walks into a room and demands attention without saying a word. Tall, blond and almost painfully gorgeous, this girl also has the biggest heart I've ever known. She's been through a lot and it always takes my breath away at how she deals with it with humility and grace.

All of my girls are constantly in my heart and I would truly be lost without them. So here's to friendship, birthdays and dinner parties!! Which I'm running late for- eek... best dash.
